Floods in Costa Rica force evacuations and leave communities isolated

Costa Rica’s National Emergency Commission (CNE) are carrying out assessments of the damage caused by heavy rain and floods that hit the nation’s Caribbean and Northern regions on 21 June 2015, reports Floodlist. CNE say that 25 communities are isolated by the flooding. Hundreds have been evacuated from their homes. 576 people are staying in shelters set up by CNE.

Costa Rica’s Instituto Meteorológico Nacional (IMN) is warning people to remain extremely vigilant in the Caribbean and Northern regions, particularly in areas prone to flooding and landslides.
