In line with the celebration of the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, it is important to take the time to understand what Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) is and the positive impact that it has on people’s lives when implemented correctly.

The "Community Disaster Response Team Training" implemented by Mauritius Red Cross Society and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Centre (NDRRMC) in Mauritius empowers communities and builds resilience against Climate Change.

This project is supported by the United Nations Development Programme - UNDP GEF Small Grants Programme. Clicking here is possible to watch a video about the simulation exercise that took place in Riviere Cocos, Rodrigues island after 3 days of intensive training for community leaders.

The training is provided by the Mauritius Red Cross and NDRRMC in collaboration with the Special Mobile Force, the Mauritius Fire And Rescue Service, and several other partners.
