Volcano eruptions have deep origins

According to a new research, the differences in the intensity of volcanic eruptions reflect fluctuations deep in the Earth, reports BBC.

"This work is the first to show a link between the nature of the melts produced in Earth's mantle, and variations in surface eruption styles. It has important implications for volcano monitoring and hazard assessment," lead investigator Dr Marie Edmonds of Cambridge University told BBC News.
