The competition

We are gathering together stories and images that tell a compelling story of urban resilience – stories that encourage the prevention of, and preparation for, climate-related extreme events in cities and municipalities around the world.

Do you have a moving story or image that could inspire urban citizens to work together to prepare for extreme weather events? Or perhaps you have an idea for a fictional tale that could help your community take action and limit the damage of hazards such as heavy rain, a severe storm or Urban Heat Island effect?

If you do, we would love to hear from you!

Participants

Our competition is open to anyone who has a story to tell or artwork to share that can help inspire action to create a climate-resilient future. There is no age limit. Relatives of the jury members and organizing committee are excluded from the competition.

Are you a climate adaptation officer or an emergency responder, a concerned local politician or a business owner who needs to raise awareness of climate-amplified extremes in your city or municipality? Or maybe your local community struggles with floods or heatwaves but there is little help or guidance from policymakers and institutions?

Whatever your role, tell us your urban resilience story and motivate your community…

Details

Winning entries will be selected by a jury composed of journalists, scientists and experts working in narratives and visual arts, local policymakers who deal with climate adaptation and disaster risk management, and urban  citizens concerned with consequences of extreme weather events.
