Wildfire early warning possible with space sensors

Space.com reports that FireWatch, an early warning detection system that is based on space sensor know how, could help early and automated detection of future conflagrations. The technology honed by the German Aerospace Institute is based on experience in fire monitoring that was collected by the institute using different platforms and assorted sensors. This tool could be used for early warning in cases such as the wildfires that have been raging in Colorado in the past 2 weeks.
