World needs to heed Cyclone Pam's message - Opinion
It was known Vanuatu was the most vulnerable country in the world to disasters, writes Rebecca Barber, Humanitarian Policy and Advocacy Adviser for Save the Children, in an opinion piece in Otago Daily Times.
In her opinion, since the World Bank had warned a major disaster could affect half the population and GDP, one would think that there would have been significant investment in reducing disaster risk. She however states that efforts to build resilience and reduce risk in Vanuatu have been grossly inadequate, and that the results are now evident.
