Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments synthesis and analysis report 2022

This report provides synthesis and analysis of Voluntary Commitments (VCs) as well as informs the Midterm Review (MTR) of the implementation of the Sendai Framework regarding stakeholder contributions to the Sendai Framework implementation, by sharing identified trends and gaps derived from the analysis. The report is the second edition of a Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitment (SFVC) synthesis and analysis report. The first one was published in May 2019, shortly after the launch of the SFVC.

The Voluntary Commitments initiative reflects the motive of the Sendai Framework that, on the one hand, States have the primary responsibility for DRR, but, on the other hand, this responsibility is shared with all stakeholders. The main result of this report reveal that the scope of the VC activities remains predominantly at the national or local levels, while stakeholders that most actively submit VC are Non-Governmental Organisations followed by stakeholders from academia as well as networks and others.

As anticipated, it has emerged that the SFVC platform contributes to overcoming barriers and institutional silos among governments, international organizations and other stakeholders. The information provided enables all relevant actors working in DRR around the world to have data-oriented information to support their planning, identify crossovers and potential partners to collaborate for constantly improving the synergy and effectiveness of their work towards the implementation of the Sendai Framework.
