Burkina Faso: Plan régional d’adaptation au changement climatique 2024-2028

The overall objective of this Regional Adaptation Plan (PRA) is to contribute to the sustainable development of the Central Plateau Region by reducing vulnerability to climate change. This PRA should make it possible to (i) improve the resilience of the most vulnerable production sectors and local populations and (ii) integrate adaptation into the development policies and plans of the Central Plateau Region.

Burkina Faso adopted its first National Adaptation Plan in September 2015. After five years of implementation, the Burkina Faso PNA must be revisited to consolidate the achievements and update the information. As part of future revisions of the PNA, Burkina Faso plans to adopt a regional approach to consider better the specificities of each region of the country regarding vulnerability and adaptation options to climate risks. It is with this in mind, with the financial support of the PNA Global Network and the coordination of the Permanent Secretariat of the National Council for Sustainable Development (SP/CNDD), that the Central Plateau Region was chosen as a pilot region for the establishment of a Regional Adaptation Plan (PRA).

L’objectif global de ce Plan Régional d’Adaptation (PRA) est de contribuer au développement durable de la Région du Plateau Central par la réduction de la vulnérabilité aux changements climatiques. Ce PRA devra permettre (i) d’améliorer la résilience des secteurs de production et des populations locales les plus vulnérables et (ii) d’intégrer l’adaptation dans les politiques et plans de développement de la Région du Plateau Central.

Le Burkina Faso a adopté son premier Plan national d’adaptation en septembre 2015 et après cinq ans de mise en œuvre, le PNA du Burkina Faso doit être revisité en vue de consolider les acquis et d’actualiser les informations. Dans le cadre des futures révisions du PNA, le Burkina Faso envisage d’adopter une approche régionale pour mieux prendre en compte les spécificités de chaque région du pays en matière de vulnérabilité et d’options d’adaptation aux risques climatiques. C’est dans cette optique, avec le soutien financier du Réseau Mondial de PNA et la coordination du Secrétariat Permanent du Conseil National pour le Développement Durable (SP/CNDD), que la Région du Plateau Central a été choisie comme région pilote pour la mise en place d’un Plan Régional d’Adaptation (PRA).
