Welcome to the Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Media Hub of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR). Our mission is to raise awareness of the importance of reducing disaster risks and building resilience in communities around the world.

Disasters can severely affect human lives, assets, and livelihoods, wiping out hard-earned development gains. Systems are complex, and thus building resilience requires joint efforts, an all-of-society approach.

As the leading global authority on disaster risk reduction, UNDRR works with governments, NGOs, the private sector, and other stakeholders to help communities prepare for and respond to disasters. Our work focuses on promoting sustainable development, reducing the impact of disasters on vulnerable communities, and building more resilient societies.

The DRR Media Hub is an essential resource for journalists, bloggers, and other media professionals interested in covering disaster risk reduction and related topics. Here, you will find the latest news and information on disaster risk reduction efforts around the world, as well as reports and analysis from the disaster risk reduction community around the world.

We also offer resources for journalists to help them better understand and report on disaster risk reduction issues.

Whether you are a journalist, researcher, or concerned citizen, the DRR Media Hub is a valuable source of information on disaster risk reduction and the efforts to build more resilient communities around the world. Join us in our mission to create a safer, more sustainable future for all.

About UNDRR

The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) has a big ambition: to help decision makers across the globe better understand and act on risk.

At UNDRR, we envision a world where disasters no longer threaten the well-being of people and the future of the planet. Sustainable development and the 2030 Agenda cannot be achieved without working towards that goal of building resilience.

As the lead agency within the United Nations system for the coordination of disaster risk reduction, we use our authoritative expertise and presence in five regional offices to build and nurture relationships with national and local governments, intergovernmental organisations, civil society and the private sector.

We work closely with countries to help them build and strengthen integrated systems to manage risk and implement evidence-based policies in a way that mainstreams DRR across all areas of governance at the local, national and regional levels. The development and roll-out of inclusive and accessible multi-hazard early warning systems is a key part of this work.
