The Afghanistan Resilience Consortium (ARC) integrates environment, disaster risk reduction, and humanitarian support to create lasting resilience for Afghanistan’s communities and ecosystems. The ARC was established in 2014 as a partnership between Afghanaid, ActionAid, Concern Worldwide, Save the Children, and UN Environment (UNEP). The ARC’s holistic approach recognizes that conflict and environmental degradation can exacerbate the impacts of natural hazards, and strives to support communities and improve ecosystem management in order to reduce the risk of disasters and build adaptive capacity to climate change.
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
