Baltic Earth, the successor to the Baltic Sea Experiment (BALTEX), provides earth system science for the Baltic Sea region. The research disciplines of BALTEX continue to be relevant, yet with a more holistic view of the Earth system encompassing processes in the atmosphere, on land and in the sea as well as in the antroposphere. The research focus of BALTEX was primarily been on the hydrological cycle and the exchange of energy between the atmosphere and the surface of the Earth. Its study region is the Baltic Sea and its huge catchment region.
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
