Mission

CARE was founded in 1945, and is working across 87 countries to fight global poverty and marginalization. CARE Bangladesh has been active since 1949, and is currently implementing 35 projects in partnership with 36 NGOs to improve food and livelihood security, promotion of gender equality and women empowerment, improve child health and nutrition to eventually reduce child mortality.

The organization has no registered commitments.

The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.

Bangladesh: CARE has set out an example for urban resilience

A conference on urban resilience jointly organized by 16 humanitarian organizations was held during the first week of October, with one session in particular focusing on women's engagement in urban resilience building. CARE has been working towards empowering women as a force of resilience instead of as the vulnerable part of the community.
