Founded in 1989 by veteran journalist Charles Lewis, the Center for Public Integrity is one of the oldest and largest nonprofit news organizations in the country. Our Pulitzer Prize-winning newsroom is composed of reporters, editors and data journalists who dig deep and deliver national and international investigative journalism of enduring significance.
Their mission: To protect democracy and inspire change using investigative reporting that exposes betrayals of the public trust by powerful interests.
The Center for Public Integrity is a nonpartisan 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization that does not engage in advocacy. They value and are committed to hiring employees from diverse backgrounds. They are a participant of the Shorenstein Center’s Single Subject News Network. Along with their colleagues at The War Horse, The Marshall Project, The Trace, Chalkbeat, The Hechinger Report, ProPublica, The Texas Tribune and Reveal from the Center for Investigative Reporting, they share information on how nonprofit and independent outlets like them can best engage with readers.
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
