El Centro de Estudios de Desarrollo seguro y Desastres de la Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala, fue aprobado por el honorable Consejo Superior Universitario, en su sesión Celebrada el 9 de abril del 2008, según el punto Sexto inciso 6.4 del acta numero 08-2008, y contribuye a la construcción de un desarrollo seguro y sostenible, proporcionando alternativas en la búsqueda de una mejor calidad de vida, al mismo tiempo coopera con el fortalecimiento de una cultura de preparación, prevención, mitigación y atención ante desastres naturales o provocados, e incide en espacios de gestión del desarrollo seguro y desastres a nivel nacional como internacional, generando participación activa de las dependencias universitarias en la gestión de programas y proyectos de incidencia política e institucional para el desarrollo de capacidades en el tema de gestión de riesgo y desarrollo seguro.
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
