The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.

A communication breakdown is one of the worst things that can happen during a flood. One engineer has developed a system to help close the communications gap between flood management and emergency responders. The flood management software, called FloodIntel, came about through flood studies and discussions with emergency personnel.
The 4th edition of the Coastal Hazard Management Short Course will be held in Brisbane 3-4 May 2017, with a study tour on 5 May.
