Mission
AFEM’s main goal is to reduce the destructive effects of hazards through research, training and education at all levels, from policy makers to field workers associated with disaster preparedness and response.
The organization has no registered commitments.
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.

“International Workshop on Disaster Education/Training” will be organised on 23-24 November 2009 at Antalya by AFEM to establish a standard for disaster education and to define the education techniques for different targets.
This publication includes speeches and presentations from a workshop aimed at encouraging public authorities and populations in areas at risk to reinforce their capacity to anticipate and respond to natural hazard-related disasters.
