The functions that the Institute exercises are, among many others: to elaborate the geological map of Catalonia, in various scales, and carry out mapping software, databases and information systems about soil and subsoil; to develop and maintain the seismic network; to study and assess the geological risks, including earthquake and avalanche risk; to develop and promote work, studies and evaluations in the field of geology and its related sciences; to advise and provide technical assistance in the field of geology and disciplines related to DPTOP, other departments and other administrations; to supervise, if requested, land geotechnical studies; to develop soil and subsoil studies; to establish protocols to be followed in the elaboration of geological, geophysical and geotechnical studies, and facilitate information gathered in the databases.
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
