Proyecto Glaciares “Glaciers 513 - Climate change adaptation and disaster risk management for glacier retreat in the Andes” started in November 2011. The project is a cooperative venture Switzerland - Peru as part of the Global Climate Change Program of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), in close coordination with the National Water Authority and the Ministry of Environment.
The implementation is through Glaciology Unit of the National Water Authority, Regional Governments of Ancash and Cusco, local governments and universities Santiago Antunez de Mayolo, San Antonio Abad of Cusco and Agraria La Molina.The project facilitation is lead by the consortium between Care Peru and the University of Zurich.
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
