Kyrgyz National Platform for DRR was established in 2011. It has been announced at the Third Session of the Global platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in Geneva, Switzerland.
National Platform for DRR is a multi-stakeholder national mechanism that serves as an advocate of disaster risk reduction (DRR) at different levels. It provides coordination, analysis and advice on areas of priority requiring concerted action.
The National Platform functions as coordination mechanism to integrate DRR concept into the State policy, plans and development programs as the main component in accordance with priority actions of HFA. It should aim at assisting in establishment and development of comprehensive national DRR system as per the needs of each country.
The overarching role of the National Platform is to contribute to the country’s resilience by establishing a coordination mechanism, developing a culture of prevention through advocacy and integrating DRR into national policies.
The mission statement of the National Platform is to bring together all elements of government and civil society in order to together reduce the impact of disasters and create a safer Kyrgyz Republic for all.
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
