National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of public parks, recreation and conservation. Its work draws national focus to the far-reaching impact of successes generated at the local level. Leveraging their role in conservation ,health and wellness, and social equity to improve their communities, NRPA’s members consist of park and recreation professionals and 60,000 advocates that represent public spaces in urban communities, rural settings and everything in between.
NRPA brings strength to its message by partnering with like-minded organizations including those in the federal government, non-profits, and commercial enterprises. Funded through dues, grants, registrations, and charitable contributions, NRPA produces research, education and policy initiatives for members that ultimately enrich the communities they serve. NRPA is a strong supporter of state side Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) and has introduced legislation to fund urban parks.
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
