Mission

RIBA is the UK body for architecture and the architectural profession. It provides support for its 40,500 members worldwide in the form of training, technical services, publications and events, and sets standards for the education of architects, both in the UK and overseas.

The organization has no registered commitments.

The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.

UK: New report calls on the Government to build flood resilient homes

The Royal Institute of British Architects has published a new report outlining what the government needs to do to help create homes and communities that are resilient to flood damage. The report, The Value of Flood Resilient Architecture and Design, stresses that the UK can no longer base its approach to managing flood risk on simply keeping the water out.
