Founded in January 1959, The South China Sea Institute of Oceanology (SCSIO) is one of the largest marine research institutes in China, and one of the Chinese Academy of Science knowledge generating institute. It has 388 staff member, 47 research scientists, 43 Ph.D -advising Professors. SCSIO is featured by a postdoctoral research station and a Ph.D degree program in fields of Marine Biology, Physical Oceanography, Marine Geology, Marine Chemistry, and Marine Environment.
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
