The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) is a federal Crown corporation responsible for promoting standardization in Canada. It reports to Parliament through the Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada(link is external).
It leads and facilitates the development and use of national and international standards and accreditation services in order to enhance Canada's competitiveness and well-being.
Its mission involves working with stakeholders and customers to promote efficient and effective standardization that strengthens Canada’s competitiveness and social well-being.
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
