The Thames Valley LRF was established by the Civil Contingencies Act 2004, which placed a duty on public sector organisations - local authorities, the emergency services, the NHS & health bodies and environment-related government agencies - to warn, inform and advise the public in the event of an emergency. The borders of the LRF match those of Thames Valley Police and cover an area of the 2,200 square miles of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Milton Keynes.
Thames Valley Local Resilience Forum (TVLRF) has established a Strategic Coordinating Group (SCG) in response to COVID-19 through which local authorities, healthcare providers and emergency services jointly develop a combined response to the current rapidly evolving situation.
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
