Set up in 1988, United News of Bangladesh (UNB), is the first fully computerised wire service in the private sector in South Asia. With Associated Press of America (AP), the world's largest wire service as its principal partner in news exchange and its network of correspondents and reporters across the country and around the world, UNB supplies news, features and news photos to its subscribers within and outside the country numbering about 100. UNB's subscribers include all leading local newspapers, important government offices, Bangladesh Television, Radio Bangladesh and some electronic and print media in cities abroad like London, New York and Dubai.
In addition to its main service, UNB maintains a Bangla (Bengali) service.
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
