A key aim of the VEC is to enable improved business performance and competitiveness through the demonstration, application and adoption of Virtual Engineering tools, techniques and develop skills and expertise throughout the Advanced Manufacturing supply chain. To date, the VEC has engaged with over 70 Northwest SME’s and over 20 large companies nationally and has helped to generate over £30 million of investment in the Northwest economy. The VEC supports manufacturing business to enhance their product and process capabilities through harnessing and deployment of technologies and expertise in:
- Advanced modelling and simulation and the development of bespoke virtual prototypes
- Specialist 3D immersive visualisation environments
- Technology integration and knowledge exchange
- Developing and supporting collaborative innovation frameworks and product developments
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
