One of the principal groups at Western Sydney University pursuing research in emergency management / DRR and related areas of sustainable development is the Humanitarian and Development Research Initiative (HADRI).
HADRI has three main thematic research areas, all of which intersect. A key focus of this work includes resilience programming and ‘best practice’ regarding operationalized form of ‘developmental relief’ or LRRD (Linking, Relief, Rehabilitation and Development):
- Disaster Preparedness, Response and Management
- Migration and Diaspora
- Sustainable Development and Human Security
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
