Act to adapt: Child Centered Climate Change Adaptation (4CA)
This brochure provides a short overview of the approach of Plan International’s child centred climate change adaptation programme and presents four case studies on how the program is taking shape in Southeast Asia.
Plan’s Child Centred Climate Change Adaptation (4CA) programme is a 3-year project implemented from 2011-2014 in 10 countries in Asia and Pacific. It aims to build the awareness of children and their communities about climate change and to empower them to be active participants in adaptation efforts, directly engaging with over 26,000 children and their communities.
This involves the translation of relatively new and complex climate science concepts into real life practice using the tools, techniques and knowledge of local communities. This includes work on adaptation for children, in delivering child-sensitive adaptation projects, and adaptation with children, which ensures children’s active participation in the design and implementation of adaptation projects.
