Adaptation in international climate negotiations
This briefing note addresses the current negotiations on climate change adaptation held under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), with a particular focus on those vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. It advocates for adaptation to be integrated at all levels of development work, poverty reduction, disaster risk reduction and natural resource management. It also calls for adaptation to address the ongoing causes of vulnerability to climate change and examines how a global climate deal could support adaptation, providing recommendations for a new climate system.
This note is part of a series of six two-page briefings on key climate change topics originally produced as part of Practical Action's unified approach to its advocacy work with governments, NGOs and other agencies in the run up to Copenhagen.
