‘Are you prepared?’: Representations and management of floods in Lomanikoro, Rewa (Fiji)
This publication analyzes how villagers in Lomanikoro, Fiji, perceive and manage flood risks. Community preparedness is an important component of risk reduction strategies implemented by national authorities and international organizations in Fiji. The paper examines how social and cultural factors influence local risk response, exploring why inhabitants may not be willing to adopt recommended preparedness measures, including resettling in safer areas.
