The assessment detailed in this report looked at the integration of culture and heritage in disaster risk management and climate change adaptation mechanisms in nine countries in Southern Africa. The assessment revealed that culture and heritage are generally not considered widely when assessing threats posed by climate induced or other natural hazards, except when there is an impact on tourism. By exploring the nexus between culture, heritage, and disaster and climate responses, this report establishes a coherent narrative of key themes and emerging trends in Southern Africa to help pae the way for a more sustainable and resilient future.
