Block city: A model to visualize flooding in a city

Block City is a flood model that the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency, MSB, has developed. The model visualizes flood risks in a city, live, in an innovative, interactive,  and educational way. It also shows the need to protect critical infrastructure in the municipality to sustain functionality in society during flooding. Through Block City, you, as a teacher or other actor, have the opportunity to increase your students' knowledge of floods playfully.

You build up your Block City in the way you want it. There are tips in the tutorial and ideas about lesson plans as well as simple building instructions that can be of help and inspiration. The target group for this arrangement is the age group of 6–10 years. Of course, as a teacher or other actor, you can adapt the lesson so that it is also suitable for other age groups or target groups. The model has been used in training courses, seminars and workshops for different types of actors and school children in second and third grade.
