This document is the English version of the teaching materials currently being used in schools and social education facilities throughout Japan. It is intended for students in disaster prevention education. It aims to increase awareness of the lessons to be learned from the Great Hanshin-Awaji earthquake which occured in Kobe, Japan, on January 1995. It is accompanied by a DVD which introduces practical examples of disaster mitigation education from Kobe schools and local communities.
