Bringing disaster risk management to scale in the Eastern Caribbean
This paper is part of a series highlighting the World Bank's achievements in disaster risk management initiatives. It presents the World Bank’s disaster-related engagement in the Eastern Caribbean in the context of a a $150,000 grant from the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR) and the establishment of a comprehensive program targeting disaster risk management (DRM) and resilience in the region. It describes: (i) its context; (ii) the World Bank approach; (iii) the results and achievements; (iv) the lessons learned; and (iv) the next steps, including an extensive analysis of the region's infrastructural assets, disaster risk understanding and technical capacity, as well as the conduction of related trainings.
