Building long-term stability and resiliency (Liaison Magazine Volume 14, Issue 2, 2022)
Liaison is CFE-DM’s biannual journal of disaster management and humanitarian relief collaborations. Articles are original work from throughout the DMHA community focusing on advances, partnerships, technology and applied research, and training and education. This issue explores the ways in which organizations can enhance their stability and resilience in the long-term. The paper provides insights into the critical factors that contribute to building robust systems and outlines practical strategies for achieving long-term stability and resilience.
The journal aims to promote the ability of DMHA partners to learn from one another through lessons learned to build a stronger DMHA community through shared learning. This issue highlights the importance of having a clear understanding of an organization's risk factors and vulnerabilities, as well as a well-developed crisis management plan. The main findings suggest that having a culture of continuous improvement, regular risk assessments, and effective communication can enhance an organization's stability and resilience in the long-term. The paper concludes with recommendations for organizations to invest in training and resources to build their capacity to manage risk and crisis, and to implement continuous improvement initiatives to stay ahead of potential threats.
