Building mountain resilience: solutions from the Hindu Kush Himalaya
This document summarises key learning areas for building resilience in the Hindu Kush Himalayan (HKH) region, which include natural resource management, changing behaviours and practice, and improving governance and services. The solutions presented in this volume are transdisciplinary in approach. All the solutions are derived from knowledge co-created with stakeholders who will benefit from and sustain a particular intervention. Most of the solutions are piloted and tested, providing feedback from society to science and back to society, ensuring a health mutuality between experts and beneficiaries. As the HKH contains a plurality of people and interest groups, contributing to the complexity of issues, we realize that solutions must be customized and tailored to specific areas based on collective wisdom and indigenous knowledge provided by stakeholders.
