Burundi: analyse des facteurs de risques, évaluation des dommages et propositions pour un relèvement et une reconstruction durables

This document evaluates and determines underlying risk factors related to heavy rainfall in Burundi, quantifies damages and identifies activities contributing to sustainable rehabilitation and reconstruction of infrastructure. The report focuses primarily on urban planning, water and sanitation and road transport.

The document includes three sections: (i) analysis of hazard, exposure and vulnerability of infrastructure and identification of underlying risk factors, (ii) quantitative evaluation of damages in each sector, and qualitative description of how respective damages impact the economy and the population, (iii) proposal for priority activities related to rehabilitation, reconstruction, disaster risk management, in order to reduce impacts on the occurrence of similar events in the future.
