Central African Republic (CAR) accelerating results in education: Climate Annex: Climate change, education and gender
This report highlights the increasing vulnerability of the Central African Republic (CAR) to climate shocks, exacerbated by political instability, geographic factors, and insecurity over the past decade. While precipitation patterns in CAR are highly variable, projections indicate a significant rise in mean annual rainfall by the end of the century, driven by more intense and frequent rainfall events.
According to analysis, rainfall is expected to increase by 12% to 19%, with a corresponding rise in the intensity of heavy rain events, which will likely result in more frequent flooding. Additionally, climate change is anticipated to intensify the occurrence and severity of both floods and droughts across the country, posing greater risks to its already vulnerable population and infrastructure.
