China's emergency preparedness; small group workshop on preparing for large-scale emergencies
China is a country prone to frequent and devastating natural disasters. The disasters are characterized by diversity, frequent occurrence, wide area coverage and serious losses. The Chinese government attaches great importance to disaster reduction and regards it as an important guarantee for realizing the overall objective of sustainable development.
This paper introduces the current chinese emergency preparedness policies, plans and practices, provinding as an exemple the flood emergency response system.
Lastly, it take into account trends on the future development of disaster emergency response management in the country.
