City resilience toolkit: response to deadly heat waves and preparing for rising temperatures
This toolkit aims to protect and prepare Ahmedabad, India for extreme heat events, and offers a roadmap to other interested cities and states to adopt their own heat preparedness plans. It includes: i) a fact sheet titled "Increasing Resilience to Extreme Heat Health Risks Across Rapidly Urbanizing India"; ii) a how-to manual "Steps to develop a heat action plan based on the Ahmedabad experience"; iii) an article abstract on the development and implementation of South Asia’s first heat-health action plan in Ahmedabad; iv) a report on an April 2015 workshop on scaling up heat action plans in key cities and states in India; v) a report on the New York City knowledge forum in September 2015, focused on sharing international climate resilience experiences from India and the U.S; and vi) online resources.
