Climate change and vulnerability: challenges for spatial planning and civil protection

This article asserts that although the various climate change scenarios differ quite substantially, the alarming facts are well documented in recent reports, particularly from the IPCC (2007) and the Stern Review (2007) regarding the potential economic impacts of climate change. Strategic planning such as spatial and urban planning as well as disaster management and civil protection, which are focused on reducing the risks posed by actual and potential hazards, will have to deal with climate change related implications and hazards.
