Climate impact and risk assessment 2021 for Germany (Summary)
This executive summary presents shortly the contents of the six sub-reports of the "Climate Impact and Risk Analysis 2021 for Germany", for which 102 climate impacts and 13 fields of action were investigated and assessed. This report contains the summary of the “Climate Impact and Risk Assessment 2021 for Germany” (KWRA 2021). The KWRA 2021 is an essential basis for the further development of adaptation in Germany, in particular for the development of the next Adaptation Action Plans of the German government. This short version of the KWRA 2021 summarizes the concepts and results of the study as presented in the six sub-reports. This includes explanations on the conceptual background and the methodological approach to the analysis and assessment of climate impacts and adaptive capac- ity, as well as basic information in terms of climate and socio-economic projections for Germany and the analysis of generic adaptive capacity.
The most important results for all 13 fields of action are presented. The analysis shows how much individual climate risks can be reduced by the APAIII+ measures, where there is a need for more far-reaching adaptation and where there are still high climate risks even with more far-reaching adaptation. Finally, the main contents of the integrated assessment, an overall consideration of climate risks without and with adaptation, the spatial patterns and the urgent needs for action, as well as the need for further research are presented.
