Community-based restoration of mangroves in the Philippines
This case study addresses how a coastal municipality in the Philippines developed a project to adopt key adaptation strategies in order to reduce the vulnerability of its communities to risks from storms through sound management of mangroves and to increase adaptive capacity of the communities by providing alternative livelihoods. It also aims to improve awareness and empower the local community to collectively manage the resource while enhancing the communities' resilience to climate change in the long-term.
