Community resilience and community development UK practice
This document explains the community-based disaster risk reduction (DRR) measures being taken in Great Yarmouth, UK. First, the paper describes the natural hazards which exist in and around Great Yarmouth, such as fires, high winds and tidal flooding, and the key points of vulnerability. Following the hazards, the author explains methods of neighborhood-level DRR programs.
These practice notes have been produced to illustrate the strength in community development approaches to growing and nurturing community resilience through grass roots initiatives. The case study and examples are shared to promote the spread of knowledge and experience in this field of work.
