Comprehensive School Safety for Children (CSSC)

This child-friendly Comprehensive School Safety Framework is expected to be comprehensible for children. Meaningful participation from all school members, especially girls and boys, as well as children with disabilities, is one of the principles of the safe school implementation.

A disaster education consortium in Indonesia, consisting of Plan Indonesia, Child Fund, Save the Children Indonesia, Wahana Visi Indonesia, and UNICEF, conducted a series of children consultations in 11 provinces in Indonesia. The consultation aimed to seek guidance from the children themselves on the best way for them to learn about disasters, hazards, and vulnerabilities for different children, including actions that children can take at school.
