Confronting uncertainty in water resources planning and project design: The decision tree framework
This book outlines a pragmatic process for risk assessment of water resources projects, serving as a decision support tool to assist project planning under uncertainty. The authors put forth a decision support framework in the form of a decision tree, which could be used by the World Bank as well as other practitioners.
This robustness-based, bottom-up approach is an alternative to previous top-down approaches to climate risk assessment, the quality of which has been contingent on the accuracy of future climate projections. The procedures presented here will benefit from further refinement by repeated application to appropriate pilot test studies in varied conditions, and with a range of water system planning objectives.
