Contribution a la gestion des risques de catastrophes: cas des inondations aux Comores
This study aims to contribute to the development of a flood management plan in the Union of Comoros. It follows a transversal, descriptive and analytic methodology to obtain information on flood management in the country, including visits to the disaster management structures and communities affected by the floods, and mapping of the areas vulnerable to flooding and climate change.
It identifies five principal axes of intervention for the implementation of a plan to fight floods in the Comoros: (i) improved of weather prevention; (ii) capacity building for institutional actors risk management disasters; (iii) implementation of adaptation actions responding to locally identified needs; (iv) building community capacity to fight floods; and (v) intensification of anti-erosion combined with the adaptation of sustainable land management practices (SLM).
