Critical technologies for a resilient Saint Lucia
This publication GFDRR is addressing climate-related threats in Saint Lucia via efforts to enhance technologies and support knowledge-sharing activities that benefit stakeholders and communities across the country and increase resilience to natural hazards. These systems and platforms were established for use by the government and its stakeholders to create, share, and analyze disaster risk and climate change data. This support ensures that investments address disaster risk throughout planning, design, construction, and maintenance, making the final infrastructure more resilient when an extreme event occurs.
Highlighted results from the publication include:
- Technical assistance ensured the incorporation of disaster and climate resilience principles into significant infrastructure projects, including the restoration of the Piaye Bridge, improvements to the Anse La Raye Road, and the construction of the Blanchard, Bexon, Piaye, and Roblot community centers;
- Modern weather stations were installed with support from expert consultants who also provided in-person and remote training on open source geographic information systems.
