Desert locust guidelines (volumes 1-5)
The desert locust is an international transboundary pest, which affects agricultural production and livelihoods in many countries in Africa, the Middle East and southern Asia. Its migratory nature and capacity for rapid population growth present major challenges for control.
Given the certainty that there will be future Desert Locust upsurges, FAO produced a series of guidelines primarily for use by national and international organisations and institutions involved in Desert Locust survey and control. The guidelines comprise:
- Biology and behaviour
- Survey
- Information and forecasting
- Control
- Campaign organization and execution
- Safety and environmental precautions (different publication)
- Appendixes (including an index) are provided for easy reference by readers.
