Disaster management risk reduction: strategy and coordination revised plan 2011 (MAA00029)
This document presents IFRC's disaster management and risk reduction strategy and coordination global plan for 2011, which provides the framework for the following specific sector plans: (i) community preparedness and risk reduction; (ii) disaster services; (iii) shelter and settlement; (iv) logistics; an (iv) Disaster Relief Emergency Fund (DREF). It also captures initiatives of a global nature and scope, addressing identified gaps in the way information and knowledge are managed across sectors, as well as supporting appropriate global funding mechanisms for disaster management interventions.
In line with the policy framework established under Strategy 2020, the disaster management and risk reduction global plan for 2011 is informed by a cross-sector approach and plans which practices, policy guidance, capacity building activities and operational support are primarily targeted at Zone, regional and country offices, as well as at the National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies they serve within their respective regions.
